Hong Kong actor Benjamin Yuen (袁偉豪) has been noticeably less active in recent years and has been filming fewer project. In a recent appearance a YouTube program, Benjamin explains his drastically reduced workload is due to internal changes in TVB.
Speaking with veteran producer Shiu Hung Yeung (楊紹鴻), Benjamin shared that for the past five years, he has been filming one drama a year or at least one drama every two years. Benjamin explained, “It’s the company’s arrangement. There is nothing I can do about it. My life is like this.”
Benjamin also revealed that there are different stages of phrases every few years. When senior management and structure undergoes changes at TVB, the teams that he usually works with are no longer around and he would need to rebuild his team.
Although Benjamin appears to be struggling with TVB’s changes, Benjamin clarified at an another event that his lack of filming projects is only temporary. The actor also explained that his earlier comment was to simply share the current situation and urge fans not to worry. In the meantime, Benjamin promises to keep his form during this slow period so he will be at his best when he has work in the future.
While Benjamin waits for his next role, he and Moon Lau (劉佩玥) will be leading 14 Miss Hong Kong pageants contestants to Penang Malaysia for an outdoor shoot. In addition to his career as an actor, Benjamin revealed that he is interested in working behind the scene and has been actively pursuing music creation. In fact, Benjamin has written many songs and even submitted them to record companies.
