An Arkansas man has been arrested on child pornography charges after an investigation found tens of thousands of pornographic files on his cell phone.
According to an affidavit, the Arkansas State Police Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force received a tip about child abuse material attached to an email address on October 9, 2024, KAIT reported. An Independence County Sheriff’s Office investigators tracked the email address to the city of Batesville and contacted an investigators there on January 6.
The affidavit said investigators identified Nathaniel Lloyd Nerdin as the owner of the email address and came up with an address. Batesville Police served a search warrant on the apartment on January 9.
“After the phone was downloaded, there were 32,157 images and 1,743 videos that were 90 percent porn,” the court documents say. “The porn was adult porn, animal porn, and child porn.”
Nerdin reportedly told investigators that Dropbox had contacted him “about some porn” and that he had been buying porn but that he was receiving “porn that he was not asking for.” He told the detectives he had cancelled that account but “had been getting porn from PornHub.”
Nerdin was arrested earlier this week and charged with four counts of distributing, possessing, or viewing matter depicting sexually explicit conduct involving a child. He’s dure in court on February 11.
