A bedridden 80-year-old woman was found dead and stuffed in suitcase on the banks of the Willamette River in Portland, Oregon, earlier this week, and man has been charged with her murder.
The Multnomah County Sheriff’s Office said it was called to the river on Sauvie Island on Monday after the body was found, and the county medical examiner ruled the death a homicide.
The victim was identified as Judy Hurley, also known as Judy Fivecoats.
Michael Darwin Moody, 54, has been charged with second degree murder and abuse of a corpse in Hurley’s death. He was arrested at an apartment in the St. Johns neighborhood on Thursday.
Moody is due back in court on March 3.
