Officials ruled Michelle Trachtenberg’s death undetermined on Thursday, a day after the actress was found dead in New York.
Trachtenberg, 39, was reportedly found dead at a luxury apartment building in Manhattan. According to Deadline, an autopsy will not be performed because Trachtenberg’s family objected, citing religious reasons.
Deadline reported that the medical examiner will not perform an autopsy in this instance — against Trachtenberg’s family’s wishes — because foul play or criminality is not suspected.
Sources told People that Trachtenberg recently underwent a liver transplant, and that she told friends about “struggling” in the past year.
Meanwhile, sources told the New York Post that Trachtenberg’s mother last saw her on Tuesday night. Ten hours later, the “Gossip Girl” actress was reportedly found lying face-up in bed in her apartment.
A spokesperson confirmed Trachtenberg’s death to Deadline, but declined to provide additional details.
“The family requests privacy for their loss. There are no further details at this time,” the statement read.
