Ben Affleck Talked About His And Jennifer Lopez’s “Ongoing” Relationships With Each Other’s Kids Following Their Divorce, And It’s So Sweet

It sounds like Ben Affleck had some very special guests in attendance at the premiere of The Accountant 2 in Los Angeles last night.

Speaking to Entertainment Tonight on the red carpet, Ben, who stars in the sequel alongside Jon Bernthal, revealed that not only were his children at the premiere, but Jennifer Lopez’s two kids had come to show their support, too.

For context, Ben shares three teenage children with his ex-wife, Jennifer Garner, while J.Lo shares 17-year-old twins with her ex-husband, Marc Anthony.

After rekindling their romance in 2021, Ben and Jen talked openly about blending their families and moving all five children under the same roof into a new $60 million mansion. Everyone bonded, and around the time J.Lo filed for divorce from Ben last year, a source told ET that the “closeness” of their blended family was one of their biggest concerns in navigating the split.

“Jen and Ben want all their kids to be happy, regardless of the issues they are facing in their marriage,” an insider said at the time, adding that they were “trying to make this transition as easy as possible and be gentle on their children.”

And now, nine months after their divorce, Ben made it clear that his and J.Lo’s relationships with each other’s kids are as strong as ever, calling his bond with the twins one of “the joys of [his] life.”

“I don’t read the stuff online much, and sometimes I get the sense that people perpetuate the idea of… they wanna find something negative to talk about,” he told ET on the red carpet when asked directly about his “continuing relationships” with his ex’s kids.

“For the record, Jennifer Lopez is spectacular, great to my kids, great ongoing relationship with them. I love her kids. They’re wonderful,” he added. “She’s [an] enormously important, tremendous person of a lot of integrity who I adore and am grateful to. I’m thrilled that the kids are here with me. The relationships that you can have with children like that — it’s the joy of my life. And those kids are amazing, and I’m glad that this is a movie they want to come to.”

So, if that didn’t make it obvious enough, there’s certainly no drama between the exes. Notably, Ben’s comments come after he discussed their divorce for the first time and shut down scandalous theories about the “root causes” of their breakup during a recent interview with GQ.

“You’ve got to own what you knew going into any relationship. And I think it’s important to say that wasn’t the cause of some major fracture,” he said, discussing their differing approaches to fame. “There’s no scandal, no soap opera, no intrigue… There is no: ‘This is what happened.’ It’s just a story about people trying to figure out their lives and relationships in ways that we all sort of normally do.”
