Jason Sudeikis is officially set to return for the fourth season, which comes as no surprise given his central role. However, the rest of the cast remains uncertain. Reports from last August indicated that Apple had secured contract options for Hannah Waddingham (Rebecca Walton), Brett Goldstein (Roy Kent), and Jeremy Swift (Leslie Higgins), though their involvement hasn’t been formally announced. With limited details on the upcoming season’s storyline, it will be intriguing to see how their characters might fit into the narrative.

While casting remains in flux, the show’s core creative team is largely intact. Sudeikis will continue as an executive producer alongside Brendan Hunt (Coach Beard), Joe Kelly, Jane Becker, Jamie Lee, and Bill Wrubel. Juno Temple, who portrayed Keeley in the first three seasons, is currently in talks to return, hinting at another familiar face in the mix. Fueling speculation with his social media activity, Nick Mohammed has added to the buzz surrounding Ted Lasso’s return by hinting some of the storylines.

He told the Chris Moyles Show on Radio X: “I know what has come out in the press. But I think it’s fine to say that I did know that before, so I know that it’s about Ted coming back and coaching the women’s football team.”

He went on to say, when asked if Lasso would be heading back to familiar surroundings, but in a slightly different role: “At Richmond. That’s definitely come out.”

Meanwhile, casting is underway for a young actor to take on the role of Ted Lasso’s son, Henry. A devoted soccer fan throughout the series, the now 12-year-old has developed into a promising player himself. Kola Bokinni is also set to go amid talk of Ted Lasso returning for Season 4, with the AFC Richmond captain saying “Whatever happens, I’ll be there.”

As for other familiar faces, it’s still unclear who else will be invited back for season four. Nonetheless, the cast has often expressed enthusiasm to return if the chance arises, and many are likely to make guest appearances, though no official announcements have been made yet.

Unfortunately, one fan favourite character won’t be present in Season 4. Matthew Belloni of Puck News reported that Phil Dunster, who portrays the fan-favorite Jamie Tartt of AFC Richmond, won’t be returning to the series due to scheduling conflicts. This absence is likely due to scheduling conflicts, as he is actively involved in two other shows, The Devil’s Hour on Prime Video and Surface on Apple TV+.
