Paris- and Berlin-based sales outfit Salaud Morisset has boarded worldwide rights to “Low Expectations,” the first feature by Eivind Landsvik, starring Marie Ulven, better known as the singer and composer Girl in Red.
“Low Expectations” tells the story of Maja, a 29-year-old artist who, after years of intense success, finds herself at a breaking point. Forced to put her career on hold, Maja returns home, depressed and broke, and takes a job at a high school. The film explores her journey of self-discovery as she navigates the harsh realities of everyday life.
Produced by Lotte Sandbu and Synnøve Hørsdal for Maipo Film, in co-production with Snowglobe, the film is set to start shooting mid-May and will be released by Nordisk Film Distribution in Scandinavia. It received the support of the Norwegian Film Institute and the Danish Film Institute as well as Nordisk Film and TV Fond and Eurimages.

This marks Salaud Morisset’s second collaboration with the director, as the company already represented his short film “Tits,” which premiered in Cannes short film competition in 2023, was preselected at the Oscars and travelled to more than 120 festivals worldwide.

At the forefront of short film distribution for 10 years, Salaud Morisset has been expanding to feature films, notably with “To a Land Unknown” by Mahdi Fleilfel, which premiered in Cannes Directors’ Fortnight, was sold to 40 territories and was selected in more than 100 festivals.
