Tormenture, the unsettling psychological horror puzzle game from Croxel Studios and Billete Cohete, the indie publishing label from The Game Kitchen, has just rolled out its most significant update to date, delivering dramatic improvements across performance, controls, and accessibility.
Players will now experience up to 300 percent better performance thanks to extensive optimization. It makes the gameplay feel much smoother across all systems. Input remapping is now fully supported for both keyboard and mouse, and gamepad setups. While a new zoom feature enhances visibility, especially on smaller screens like the Steam Deck, where the game holds verified status.
Alongside these enhancements, the patch brings numerous bug fixes across puzzles and 3D sequences, tightening the game’s overall feel. New language support for Simplified Chinese and Catalan further expands accessibility for a broader global audience.
Set in the early 1980s, Tormenture invites players to revisit a fictional console, the Limbo 2800, only to discover that the game they have loaded is not quite what they remember. As the narrative unfolds, the boundaries between player and character dissolve, and the game itself begins to feel like a living, malevolent presence.
To escape its grasp, players must hunt down four cursed relics, decipher eerie puzzles, and navigate psychological terrors that stretch beyond the confines of the screen. With branching paths and three distinct endings, Tormenture blends pixel art nostalgia with meta-horror in a chilling tribute to retro gaming’s darker side.
