Hard Road Games has unveiled Catch & Cargo, a first-person fishing, boating, and survival semi-sim set in isolated tropical waters. Launching on PC via Steam in late 2025 or early 2026, the game offers a rugged single-player experience grounded in realism and survival.
Players take on the role of a desperate protagonist who answers a cryptic ad: “Fisher wanted. No experience. No boat. Tropics.” With nothing left to lose, you’re thrown into a harsh oceanic world, scraping by through fishing, transporting cargo, and gradually rebuilding a life from scratch.
At its heart, Catch & Cargo is a hands-on maritime sim. Boats behave according to real physics as cargo weight, fuel levels, shifting winds, and rough currents all impact how your vessel handles. Players must manually haul fish, balance loads, and endure unpredictable storms while managing hunger, thirst, and fatigue.
Key mechanics include physics-driven boat handling, rod and net fishing using sonar and weather cues, and cargo jobs that require careful weight distribution. Survival is dynamic. Scavenge for supplies, purify water, and rest when you can. Failing to do so could lead to blackouts and near-disaster.
The game also offers deep personalization. Customize your boat’s interior, decorate with personal touches, and listen to the built-in radio or your own playlist. Slowly, players can construct a home base on land, something to come back to after each grueling journey.
Catch & Cargo promises an immersive survival experience without hand-holding, placing you against the elements in a raw, unpredictable ocean.
