Following yesterday’s news about Xbox’s next-gen strategy and how they’re partnering with AMD on future hardware, we decided to update our big next Xbox console guide to provide an all-in-one roundup of what we know so far.
And you know what? We’d forgotten that at the bottom of the guide, there’s a poll that originated back in January, asking Pure Xbox readers when they think the next Xbox console is going to come out. The poll currently sits at 32% for 2026 and 31% for 2027, although it’s changed a lot because of how the rumours have evolved in recent months.
There was a time when the rumours were suggesting 2026 was a big possibility, for example, but recent rumours have suggested 2027 is more likely. The reality is that nobody knows for sure what Microsoft is planning behind the scenes.
And of course, now that we’ve heard directly from Xbox about the brand’s next-gen strategy with AMD, everyone’s starting to question when the next Xbox console is coming out again. Does the announcement indicate that it could arrive sooner than some are predicting, or was just a tease of what’s to come in the distant future?
We’re not sure what the answer is to that, although we’re definitely keeping an eye on 2026 at the very least – Xbox has already hyped up the 25th anniversary of the brand and described how it’s going to be a “special year” in general. Does that mean a new console could be ready to go by next December? We’ll have to wait and see.
So, when do you think Xbox’s next-gen console is coming out? Tell us in the poll and comments. We’ve also used the phrase “living room style” to avoid including the likes of the ROG Xbox Ally that could come under the “console” banner.
What did you vote in the poll? Let us know your thoughts about the next-gen Xbox console(s) below!
