Do You Even Forklift?, the physics-based arcade game from Polish developer Sylwester Osik of Garage 5, has taken home 1st place in the Best Engagement & Fun category at the GameJamPlus 2024–25 Global Finals, held in Brazil. The award recognizes the game’s unique blend of high-energy gameplay and quirky humor.
Set in a vibrant, Ghibli-inspired Japanese island town, Do You Even Forklift? puts players behind the wheel of a nimble Japan-made forklift. The goal is to navigate cluttered warehouses, puzzle-packed streets, and obstacle-laden paths without dropping your cargo or losing your cool. From racing the clock to dodging booby-trapped cars, the game thrives on unexpected chaos and creative problem-solving.
Players tackle over 30 forklift-powered puzzles, from moving ramen pots to repositioning vending machines and kei cars. The world is handcrafted with detail, filled with quiet alleys, playful neighbors, and secrets hidden behind locked gates. And yes, there is a dedicated beep button because some situations just demand it.
Rebuilt and enhanced for console release, the updated version features smoother controls, larger levels, and new challenges that add even more depth and mayhem to the original. Choices made during each shift shape the outcome, ensuring that every playthrough feels fresh and unpredictable.
With its fresh take on everyday work and a generous dose of absurdity, Do You Even Forklift? proves that even forklifts can be fun and award-winning. The game will be coming out on PC, Nintendo Switch, Xbox, and PS5. So, stay tuned for more updates in the future.
