Starring Bae Suzy and Kim Seon Ho, upcoming Korean drama Delusion is adapted from the webtoon of the same name. Set in 1935 during the Gyeongseong era, the story follows a painter (Kim Seon Ho), who is commissioned to paint the portrait of mysterious woman (Bae Suzy). In doing so, he uncovers her half-century-old secrets. Delusion is slated for release in 2026.
Despite the anticipation surrounding Delusion, the film crew sparked controversy. After concluding filming in Jeju Island, the film crew was accused of dumping large amounts of trash into the forest. A local netizen shared a video on social media, which showed discarded water bottles, plastic bags, and drink cups, including cup sleeves printed with Kim Seon Ho’s face, revealing the trash came from the Delusion set. The netizen wrote, “After finishing filming the drama, they threw garbage into the forest. Even the coffee cups that fans sent. Do fans know about this?”
In response, the production side explained, “Because filming ended very late and it was very dark, we failed to carefully clean up. After learning about the situation, we apologized to the filming location and authorities and immediately cleared all trash. We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience and will ensure this does not happen again.”
As this was not the first time film site mismanagement has drawn criticism, the incident has once again reignited discussions online. One Korean netizen commented, “No fines or punishment? They only cleaned up after being called out.” Another wrote, “Too dark to clean, but all the equipment was taken? That’s just an excuse.”
